Snowy Winter - Love Story Photoshoot in Copenhagen

Updated: Mar 5

A Winter Fairytale - Snow in Copenhagen

Copenhagen doesn’t get snow very often, but when it does, it’s like stepping into a fairytale. The city looks completely different, covered in a soft white blanket, making everything feel quiet, cozy, and extra magical. Snow only stays for a few days before it melts away, so getting to see it is a special treat!

Marcella and Wayne were lucky enough to experience this winter wonderland during their trip. They came all the way from Singapore, where it’s always warm, to explore Europe. Their plan was to visit Milan in Italy and then head to Iceland to see the northern lights. But before all that, they wanted to capture their love in Copenhagen with a romantic (and very cold!) winter photoshoot.

For Wayne, the cold was a big surprise! Coming from a tropical country where it’s warm all year round, winter felt completely different. While I’m used to the cold and don’t need many layers, it’s always fun to see how people from warmer places react. Over time, I’ve learned that Singapore only has one season—hot! So, for Marcella and Wayne, traveling to a winter destination is something always exciting. Wayne its someone who loves cold, while Marcella loves warm - but this kind of cold and windy Copenhagen is of course something else. They embraced the cold with big smiles and warm hugs, making their photoshoot even more special. 😊🤍

Does It Snow in Copenhagen? Why a Snowy Photoshoot Is Special ❄️

Unlike other places in Scandinavia, Copenhagen doesn’t get much snow. And when it does, it doesn’t last long. Because the city is near the sea, the weather changes quickly, and snow often melts after just a day or two. This makes it even more magical when it happens.

A snowy photoshoot in Copenhagen is special because it completely transforms the city. The soft white layer makes everything look calmer and more romantic. The bare trees in The King’s Garden, covered in frost, create a dreamy, fairytale-like feel, while Rosenborg Castle in the background adds a touch of history and charm. The way snow settles on the hedges and pathways makes it one of the most picturesque spots in winter. (Photos from The King’s Garden above!)

Meanwhile, Nyhavn offers a completely different winter look. The colorful buildings stand out beautifully against the snow, creating a picture-perfect contrast. The cobblestone streets, usually busy, feel quieter and more intimate, allowing for natural and cozy moments to be captured. The boats in the canal, lightly dusted with snow, add to the charm. For Marcella and Wayne, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Fresh snow covered the streets, the rooftops, and the trees, making the whole city look like something out of a winter movie. It was the perfect setting for their love story. And their smile was contagious. 😊

Best Locations for a Snowy Winter Photoshoot in Copenhagen 📸

We started the photoshoot in Nyhavn, one of Copenhagen’s most famous and beloved spots. This colorful harbor looks stunning all year round, but in winter, it has a special charm. The boats in the canal, the soft snowfall, and the pastel-colored buildings created a perfect mix of romance and coziness. Nyhavn is always a client favorite because of its vibrant atmosphere and postcard-perfect views.

From there, we made our way to Rosenborg Castle & The King’s Garden, just a short walk away. This beautiful park, with its historic castle in the background, is another top choice for winter photoshoots. In the summer, The King’s Garden is full of flowers and greenery, but in winter, it has a peaceful, dreamy look with snow-covered trees and quiet pathways. The mix of history and nature made it a perfect second location to capture Marcella and Wayne’s love story.

These two spots are not only breathtaking but also close to each other, making them ideal for couples who want a variety of stunning backdrops without spending too much time walking in the cold.
